Reflection: In the first reading we see the unwillingness of Jews to recognize Jesus as the Lord and Savior. The rejection of the Jews resulted in the great missionary works among the gentiles who whole heartedly accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ with greater enthusiasm than that of the Jews. God turns all things for good. Evan what was apparently a defeat, was actually a victory in the larger frame work of God’s plan. The gospel of the day invites us to focus upon the divine identity of Jesus Christ. Jesus and the Father are one. The holiness, glory and love of the Father is revealed in the holiness, glory and love of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is also a revelation about the possibility of divinity in humanity. Paul writes: “Be imitators of God, as beloved children” (Eph 5:1). Let us ask ourselves: What is the quality of my attempt to imitate God in my life?
