St. Stanislaus (1030 –1079) was the Bishop of Kraków, Poland. He was an eloquent preacher. Enraged by his outspoken attack on the unjust wars and immoral acts of King Boleslaus II, the king himself killed the Bishop. He is the patron saint of Poland and of moral order.
Reflection: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life”. This is the good news that we need to proclaim through our life as well as the words. For Jesus the Lord not only told his secret disciples like Nicodemus but also vindicated his statement through his crucifixion and resurrection. The Apostles who were so timid, fractured and scandalized at the time of crucifixion of the Lord were completely transformed at the instance of resurrection-experience so much that they were able to face all challenges including imprisonment. But there was no barrier of any sort to them. Even miraculously they will be saved from such barriers and be given a chance to proclaim to the people orally, because their life was already witnessing to the resurrection both personally and in their community. This indeed a call for us to be ‘possessed’ with the Risen Lord.
