Reflection: The Virgin Mary accepts the offer of incarnation in her womb, because she too was given some positive signs to believe that ‘nothing is impossible for God’. Finally Mary gives an “Yes” to God’s will. But the mystery of Incarnation is itself a response to the Father’s readiness to save the humankind from sin. It meant that the Pure Spirit had to be admixed with the matter that is imperfect and corruptible, and be born as ‘em-bodied spirit’. More than that, this human-divine babe had to live in the midst of an evil society which would charge him of all false accusation, and condemn him to an ignominious death on the cross. On the part of Mary too it is going to be a ‘prolonged yes’ right from the moment of her conception till the end of her Son’s death, accompanying him throughout his Passion.
